In the early 20th century, the First Methodist Church was located on Walton Ferry until the congregation moved and the old building was torn down in the 1960s. Even though the church building is no longer there, a small cemetery remains filled with ten or twelve graves of members who are still buried on the grounds. This Cemetery is now hidden behind a strip mall where the church once stood and is located to the side of a grocery store off of Walton Ferry in Hendersonville.
Employees and patrons of the shops near the cemetery tell stories of seeing multiple ghosts on the property. The spirits are said to have been somewhat unruly and messed up products on the shelves. Employees don’t like working alone at night and report feeling uneasy in the stores.
